process is effective using EPA test method 200 . 7 , AASC ' s lab will perform chromium analyses
using atomic absorption spectroscopy and we ' ll measure the pH using the HACH pH probe and
meter after each treatment cycle and only discharge to the city sewer if analyses meet POTW
permit conditions .
SAMPLING METHODS
Samples will be collected from each of the two alodizing rinse waters and the water scrubber
unit . These locations are from each source which make up the aqueous solutions requiring
treatment . A coliwasa tube will be used to obtain representative samples from each of the 3
locations . After treatment, samples will be taken from the chromium treatment system discharge
tank . A coliwasa tube will also be used to collect these samples .
FREQUENCY OF ANALYSIS
Analysis at the point of discharge will be initially conducted to determine the proper tier
category under the tiered permitting system and periodically, unless there is a change to the
process , at which time analysis of the affected source will be conducted . After treatment,
analysis of the treated water will be initially collected from the chromium treatment system
discharge tank and chromium analysis performed by a certified lab . After the initial analysis by
a certified lab , all future samples will be analyzed for chromium by AASC ' s lab using Atomic
Absoprtion Spectroscopy prior to discharge to the city sewer. After treatment, all chromium
results will be documented and maintained with the daily inspection log sheets .
i
I
