Ms.Margaret Lagorio,SJCEHD December 31,2003
Joe's Truck Plaza Project No.2033-15600-01
Work Plan Addendum
Page 4
and analysis of the analytical data, Stratus will evaluate the depths and locations
of the monitoring wells proposed in the original Work Plan. Stratus will modify
the number, depths, and locations of the wells proposed in the original Work Plan
as warranted, and will coordinate these changes with SJCEHD prior to installation
of additional wells.
Following completion of the proposed CPT and well installation activities, Stratus
will prepare a letter report presenting the findings of the investigation, including
subsurface conditions encountered during assessment activities, and the results of
chemical analytical data from soil and groundwater samples collected during the
field activities. The report will be submitted to SJCEHD prior to implementation
of the rest of the proposed assessment activities and feasibility testing, and the
data will be used to update the SCM.
Given the recalcitrant nature of MTBE in the natural environment, the presence of
MTBE in well MWO-2 located approximately 500 feet from the former UST
complex, and the property owner's desire to move this project toward closure,
Stratus continues to recommend immediate initiation of interim remediation.
Stratus will modify the number and locations of the proposed ozone injection
wells based on any changes in our understanding of the subsurface lithologic
conditions after completion of the assessment activities, and these changes will be
coordinated with SJCEHD, in writing, prior to implementing remedial activities.
If you have any questions regarding this Work Plan Addendum, please call Gowri
Kowtha at (530) 676-6001.
Sincerely,
57-KATU5 ENVIRONMENT p GFS
Stephen J.
