/ <br /> 4.0 SUMMARY OF PHASE II FIELD OPERATIONS <br />/ 4.1 Utility Clearance <br /> As required by law, Underground Service Alert was contacted in order to provide <br /> clearance ofthe boring locations from any possible underground utility Imes which <br /> might exist on the subject property <br /> 1 <br /> 4.2 Soil Boring and Sampling Procedures <br /> Prior to the start of the dril l Ing operations, a tailgate Health and Safety meeting was <br /> conducted by the Project Manager to discuss potential health and safety risks and <br /> 1 the appropriate precautions required to reduce such risks. All field personnel <br /> present signed the Attendance List In the Health and Safety Plan acknowledging <br /> that a Health and Safety meeting was held <br /> V&W Drilling Company, drilled and constructed the monitoring wells V&W used <br /> 1 a truck-mounted drill rig, equipped with 825-inch outside diameter (OD) <br /> hollow-stem auger Down-hole equipment was decontaminated by steam cleaning <br /> after each borehole was completed <br /> The cuttings generated by the auger were stored in 55-gallon drums pending <br /> 1 analytical results to determine their appropriate final disposition <br /> During drilling activities a Iithologic description of soils encountered were made <br /> by a State of California Registered Geologist Descriptions recorded during sample <br /> logging were in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) as <br /> 1 outlined In ASTM Standard Method D2487 Boring logs are included in this report <br /> as Appendix IV After the borings were completed, they were converted to 2-Inch <br /> groundwater monitoring wells <br /> 4.3 Monitoring Well Installation <br /> 1 <br /> Following the drilling of the borings, four single-cased groundwater monitoring <br /> wells were constructed (per the attached workplan dated August 17, 2001, <br /> Appendix II) on February 8, 2002 The wells were constructed of two-inch Inside <br /> diameter (I D ), flush threaded, schedule 40 PVC casing All wells were <br /> 1 constructed in accordance with standards for exploratory wells contained in the <br /> California Code of Regulations, Title 12, Chapter 15, Article 8 (Well Construction <br /> and Licensing of Well Drillers) and its associated revisions <br /> 1 Avalon Environmental Consultants 4527-001 7 <br /> Joe's Truck Plaza 15500 5 Harlan Road <br /> May 15,2002 <br /> Lathrop California <br /> 5 <br /> 1 <br />
