' sample tube were covered with Teflon material, capped with plastic end caps, <br /> labeled, double-bagged in sealable plastic bags, entered Into a chain-of-custody <br /> form and placed on Ice in a portable cooler for delivery to a California DHS- <br /> certified laboratory for analysis <br />' A portion of each recovered soil sample was placed in a sealable plastic bag, <br /> disaggregated to release any volatile petroleum hydrocarbons, allowed to set for <br />' a few minutes, and then field screened using a Photo Ionization Detector (PID) <br /> Samples with high PID readings will be analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons In <br /> the absence of significant PID measurements, selected representative samples were <br /> analyzed Soil samples were examined, described and logged by a California <br /> Registered Geologist using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) as <br /> outlined in American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) document D2487 Logs <br />' of the soil borings are Included in this report as Appendix IX <br /> All coring and sampling equipment was cleaned prior to use to prevent cross <br />' contamination between borings. The sampling equipment was cleaned using a <br /> solution of Alconox and tap water, rinsed in tap water and final rinsed with <br /> detonized water to prevent cross contamination between samples Alconox is a <br /> non-phosphate detergent <br /> • Solids were removed from the coring and sampling equipment with a brush <br /> and washed in an Alconox-water solution <br /> • Rinsing with tap water <br /> • Rinsing with distilled water <br />' After completion of the drilling and sampling, the boreholes were backfilled with <br /> neat cement to surface grade <br /> a <br /> All collected soil samples were delivered, with proper Chain of Custody, to Sunstar <br /> Laboratories of Tustin, California for analysis <br /> 5.0 PHASE II FIELD INVESTIGATION RESULTS <br /> I <br /> 5.1 Soils Encountered Underneath the Subject Property <br /> The soils encountered at one and five foot depths, consisted of slightly moist, silty <br /> and clayey sand medium dark brown color The soils encountered at the nine foot <br /> depth wa,, clean fine-grained sand, of medium brown color, saturated.
