Equipment Decontamination
Prior to sample collection, all soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean water after
washing with a solution of Alconox.Prior to any probe advancement, all geoprobe rods were washed
prior to soil probe boring advancement.
3.3. DOMESTIC WATER WELL SAMPLE
On 07 May 1998, a grab ground water sample was collected from the domestic water well located
approximately 10 feet north of the former UST area. The sample was collected utilizing a 3/a-inch
diameter stainless steel microbailer with new nylon rope. Sufficient sample was collected from the
domestic water well to fill three 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0.5 ml 18%
_ hydrochloric acid as a preservative. Ground water sample containers were labeled with sample
location, date, time, and sampler's initials.
Following collection and labeling of the grab ground water sample, the sample was immediately
placed in a chilled container. Each sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form and transported
to a state-certified laboratory for analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) utilizing EPA
., method 524.2.
3.4. DOMESTIC AND MUNICIPAL WELL SURVEY
Drinking water near the site area is currently supplied by private domestic water wells. Based on a
map titled Well Location Base Map,published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control District,
a water well maintained by the Department of Water Resources is located approximately 3,000 feet
southwest of the site near the intersection of Armstrong Road and East Frontage Road (California
State Highway 99); a water well maintained by San Joaquin County is located approximately 4,000
feet east of the site near the intersection of Hogan Lane and Furry Road. The map did not indicate
any other water wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the site.
On 15 May 1998, representatives of AGE performed a reconnaissance of visually observable
potential receptors within a 2,000-foot radius of the above referenced site. Approximately 31
domestic and irrigation water wells were located during the reconnaissance. No other visible
potential receptors were noted during the reconnaissance. Figure 3 depicts the approximate location
of the water wells located during the well search within a 2,000 foot radius of the site; table 3 is a
summary of water well locations observed during the reconnaissance.
On 15 May 1998,a representative of AGE conducted a search of well driller reports at the California
Advanced Geo En%iron mental,Inc.
