22 May 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0152
Department of Water Resources(DWR) for water wells located in the surrounding area. The DWR
search located six well drillers reports for wells installed near the site. However, water wells could
not be located from the well driller reports due to insufficient location information. Copies of the
well driller reports are included with Appendix B.
4.0. FINDINGS
4.1. SOIL PROFILE
Generally, the soil profile from P5 consisted of a pale brown to red-brown,damp,partially cemented,
silty fine sand from surface grade to depths of 15 feet bsg. A pale brown, damp, partially cemented,
silty fine to medium sand was encountered from depths of 15 to 23 feet bsg. A mottled red-brown,
.. gray to green, partially-cemented, silty fine-to medium- sand was encountered from 30 to 40 feet
bsg in each probing. General lithology beneath the site in cross sectional view is depicted on Figure
No. 3.
4.2 FIELD EVIDENCE OF PETROLEUM HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
Neither petroleum hydrocarbon odors nor organic vapors were detected in soil samples collected
from probe borings P5 between surface grade and 40 feet bsg.
_ 4.3. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
A total of four soil samples from probing P5 were submitted for laboratory analysis of petroleum
hydrocarbons. The laboratory reported that they did not detect any TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, DIPE,
TAME, ETBE or TBA from the soil samples selected for analysis. Analytical results from soil
samples collected from probe boring P5 are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory report (Castle
Analytical Laboratory Reference No. 1488 and GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. Report No. J079-
06) and chain-of-custody forms are included as Appendix C.
4.4. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF DOMESTIC WATER WELL SAMPLE
One grab ground water sample was submitted for laboratory analysis of dissolved volatile organic
compounds (VOCs). The laboratory reported that they did not detect any VOCs from the analysis.
r Analytical results of the domestic water well sample are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory
report (BSK Analytical Laboratories Lab No. 52387) and chain-of-custody forms are included as
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
