San Joaquin County Motor Pool Facility March 6, 2001 <br /> Supplemental Contamination Assessment Workplan <br /> OBJECTIVE <br /> The objective of the supplementary contamination assessment is to: <br /> • Delineate the vertical and lateral extent of fuel hydrocarbons in the subsurface soils <br /> and groundwater beneath the Site. <br /> • Define the locations of and design parameters for groundwater remediation wells <br /> and monitoring wells to be installed at the Site. <br /> • Implement a quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling program to include all <br /> new and existing wells at the Site. <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work that TEM has,developed to meetthe objectives in clutles the follow4 t� I <br /> tasks: <br /> Task 1: Health antl Safety Plan Modification 1 } <br /> A'health and safety plan (HSP) will be prepared for the proposed scope ofwork. The HSP i <br /> is designed primarily to minimize exposure of TEM ,personnel and its subcontractors to " <br /> potentially hazardous materials. The plan will be prepared under the direction of the <br /> Corporate Health and Safety Officer and will be implemented in the field by the.Site Safe y <br /> Officer. <br /> 1 <br /> i <br /> Task 2: Permitting and Notifications <br /> Underground Services Alert (USA) will be notified to delineate underground utilities 48 <br /> hours prior to initiating drilling activities. The San Joaquin County Public Health Services, j <br /> Environmental Health Division will be notified three days before drilling commences. <br /> I <br /> Task 3: Drilling and Soil/Groundwater Sampling i <br /> Initial and step-out borings will be advanced using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with i <br /> 8-inch outside diameter (OD) hollow stem augers to uppermost groundwater <br /> (approximately 40 — 50 feet bgs). One initial boring (13-8) will be advanced to 100 feet bgs <br /> for vertical delineation purposes. Proposed boring locations are shown in Figure 2. <br /> Soil samples will be collected from each boring at five-foot intervals and/or where changes <br /> in lithology are observed. A TEM geologist, trained and supervised by a California p <br /> Registered Geologist, will describe soil samples using the Unified Soil Classification <br /> System (USCS). <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> —7M� <br />
