Mike Infurna [EH]
From: Mike Infurna [EH]
Sent: Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:58 AM
To: 'Joey Pace'
Subject: RE: Question Regarding Well Destruction Variance
please 'sound' the wells to verify total depth/'plastic bottom'/ unobstructed first.
based on what you find, I will review your proposal to either pressure grout, pull the casing out
and ream out the hole, or just overbore.
Pressure grout is limited to known construction, unobstructed, and NOT in an area of
contamination. ALL of these concerns must be adequately addressed before I issue a permit.
for your info, the permit application is $366 and each well is $122. Two well permit, if ON ONE
PARCEL will be $610.
Mike Infurna
From: Joey Pace [mailto:jpace@ecostmanage.com]
Sent: Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:44 AM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Subject: Question Regarding Well Destruction Variance
Mike:
I am preparing a well destruction permit application for the two VE wells located when Nuel Henderson
was in the field with ECM on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. 1 have one question which I wanted to clarify
with you before submitting the application:
1. Would it be acceptable for us to request a variance on the application from Well Destruction
Ordinance Code§13.17.6(overdrilling) so we may instead pressure grout these wells in
accordance with §6.3.3 and §6.3.4? We would like to request this variance because both of these
vapor wells are shallower than 100' and terminate above groundwater(26.5 feet for both),and
were never used as groundwater monitoring wells. We understand this variance, if granted, is
only applicable if the wells are found to be clear of obstructions, or can be cleared prior to
grouting.
With the permit application, ECM will include the fee of$488,the MFR form, the LCD form, well map,
borings logs, and copy of access agreement.
Thank you very much, Mike.
Joey Pace, Project Geologist
Environmental Cost Management Inc.
Direct Number:480-699-3087
(Mountain Time Zone)
12/20/2010
