Facility
230 Industrial Avenue
City of Ripon, San Joaquin County V
Dear Mr. Infuma:
Per your discussion with Mr. Binayak Acharya of Environmental Cost Management, Inc. (ECM) on
Monday, October 4, 2010, ECM has prepared the following history and proposal for
decommissioning of the three former vapor extraction (VE) wells located at the above-referenced
site (Figure 1). As previously discussed witp you and Ms. Adrienne Ellsaesser, ECM has
completed several unsuccessful efforts in the past to locate these wells. Per your request, ECM
has prepared this summary of information, which includes efforts completed to date, to assist the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC-EHD) in making a decision regarding
closure of these wells.
HISTORY OF VE-4, VE-11, AND VE-12
Date Total Well Screened Filter Pack
Well Drilled Depth Depth to Water Diameter Interval Interval
(feet) (inches) (feet) (feet)
VE-4 10/19/87 39.0 Unknown 4 7.0-37.0 5.0-39.0
VE-11 11/01/97 26.5 Terminated Above Water Table 4 10.0-25.0 8.0-26.5
VE-12 11/01/97 26.5 Terminated Above Water Table 4 10.0-25.0 8.0-26.5
• 1994-1998: VE-4 became untraceable as a result of site building demolition activities in 1994.
The area where VE-4 and VE-12 were formerly located was graded and paved in asphalt in the
late 1990s by the current property owner.
2005: ECM attempted to locate VE-4, VE-11, and VE-12 with metal detectors using coordinates
triangulated from a historic map. No wells were located during the search.
1
