s
D. Waste Material Handling and Disposal
All contaminated or potentially contaminated materials generated as a result of field activities
should be managed in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Soil cuttings
generated during drilling operation will be placed in 55-gallon DOT drums and managed in an
appropriate manner based upon analytical results of soil samples collected from the drums.
Drums will be disposed unless the contents determined to be hazardous.
3.0 Installation of SVE Conveyance Piping
Upon completion of the SVE well installation, trenches will be dug to install the PVC conveyance
piping. This will be accomplished using a rubber tire backhoe to trench and stockpile soil as
required to install underground piping. After trenching is complete, import buffer sand should
be placed into the open trenches to provide a cushion for the PVC piping. It is expected to use
up to 250 feet of 3" schedule 40 lines and place an additional layer of sand over the installed
PVC piping. The open trenches should be backfilled using excavated stockpiled soil. The vapor
extraction wells should be connected to the SVE system by 3-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC
piping that will be buried approximately 1 foot bgs.
4.0 SVE System Installation and Start Up
The SVE System should be mobilized and transported to the site for installation. The SVE
system should consist of an inlet manifold, a moisture knockout tank, a blower, two (2) 10001b
carbon vessel, and associated valves, gauges and instrumentation. The SVE system should be
capable of processing a maximum of 250 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of soil vapors or 55
pounds of contaminant per day. The initial flow rate may be below 250 cfm, if the soil vapor
concentration are excessively high. Electricity will be available at the site but a hook-up will be
needed.
Construction of an inlet manifold consisting of a valve, flow ports, pressure indicators and
sampling ports for each well is required.
5.0 Fenceline Construction
Once the SVE system is installed a fence surrounding the whole unit should be constructed.
6.0 Repair of Broken Wellheads
There are three to four broken wellheads at this site already that require repair.
