s SCOPE OF WORK 1.0 Safety Plan Contractors should prepare and submit a site specific health and safety plan (SSHSP) in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The purpose of the SSHSP will be to address the side specific work scope, outline the specific hazardous involved and provide all necessary measures to complete the project in a safe professional manner. The work is expected to be performed under Lever "D" Health and Safey Conditions. 2.0 Well Installation Three (3) SVE wells need to be installed in the impacted soil near the former Decaffination Building as shown in Figure 1. The extraction wells will be located based upon an anticipated radius of influence of 30-50 feet for each well. One of the SVE wells should be installed using angled drilling techniques underneath the Industrial Ave.. A. Borehole Construction The SVE wells should be constructed using a continuous core hollow stem auger. All wells should be constructed of four-inch (4") diameter, Schedule 40 PVC pipe. To provide for sufficient filter pack, the four-inch wells should be constructed using hollow stem augers of at least ten inch (10") diameter. Boreholes should be advanced to approximately 25 feet below ground surface. B. Well Construction The SVE wells should be constructed using four-inch (4") diameter, schedule 40 PVC flush thread well screen and a bottom plug. The well screen should consist of 0.020-inch slotted pipe which will be installed from 8 to 25 feet bgs. A four-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC flush thread blank well casing should be installed as a riser from the top of the well screen to the surface in each well. The required well speciation is as follows, (2) Ea. 25' x 4" (1) Ea. 40' x 4" The screened interval in the wells should be sand packed using #2/20 washed and sorted sand from total depth to approximately one foot above the top of the screen The sand pack should be followed by approximately one foot of bentonite chips and then bentonite grout to seal the wells from surface infiltration. All materials should be introduced into the wellbore from the surface through the annular space between the auger and well casing. C. Decontamination All construction equipment that is used below the ground surface or that may come in contact with potentially contaminated materials should be steam-cleaned prior to initial use and after each use. This includes drill bits, drill piper, auger flights, drilling tools, samplers, and core barrels. All soil sampling equipment should be decontaminated according to the following procedure: 1. Wash with dilute solution of non-phosphate soap. 2. Rinse with potable water. 3. Final rinse with distilled water.
