The purpose of our evaluation was to (1) determine if the near-surface groundwater
has been affected by chemical constituents from off-site industrial or agricultural uses
and (2) identify the local groundwater flow gradient and direction. Our services were
performed in accordance with our proposal dated 10 May 1991.
The site is composed of two lots designated as assessor parcel numbers 221-19-57 and
221-19-58. At the time of our site work, the property was flat, undeveloped, and covered
with short grasses. Magnolia trees were present along the eastern and southern property
boundaries adjacent to Bessemer Avenue and Industrial Park Drive, respectively. Light
industrial facilities were to the north and west of the site. A small lift or pump station
which is part of the San Joaquin County Irrigation District lateral irrigation system was
present in the southeast corner of the site, and associated underground drainage conduits
(including two 42-inch diameter standpipes) were buried along the southern perimeter of
the site.
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The objective of our work was to assess the quality of the near-surface groundwater and
to determine the local flow conditions. The scope of work included the following tasks:
