N
`1
Health and safety information and meetings will be documented in the project field log book.
All accidents or incidents will be documented by the Health and Safety Officer and the Project
Manager must be notified as soon as possible after an accident/incident takes place. The air
monitoring results, maintenance and calibration will be recorded in the project field daily report.
5.3 Site Control and Safe Work Practices
! The purpose of Site control and safe work practices is to eliminate or minimize potential
exposure to chemicals and the physical hazards associated with performing the work. Work at
the Site will be conducted according to established protocol for the safety and health of all
involved. The Health and Safety Officer and field team are responsible for implementing Site
i
control and safe work practices.
Work zones will be established in order to delineate high-traffic locations, identify hazardous
locations, and contain contamination within the smallest area possible.
Employees entering the work zone must wear the proper PPE for that area. Work and support
zones will be established based on ambient air monitoring data, physical hazards, necessary
security measures, and site-specific conditions. Work zones will be identified as either
Exclusion Zone (EZ); Decontamination Zone (DZ), or Clean Zone (CZ)/Support Zone (SZ).
I
Specific work zones for excavation and construction activities will be established by the
contractor conducting the activities for this project. Treadwell & Rollo personnel and/or their
w
subcontractors will follow the general guidelines outlined below (or the contractor guidelines, if
more stringent) when within excavation/ construction work zones.
Listed are general guidelines for delineation of work zones:
i
1 . The EZ is identified to areas where drilling/boring; hand augering; soil sampling;
monitoring well installation; soil as surveys; gauging/bailing/sampling monitoring wells
and all excavation/ construction activities will be conducted .
