5.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS <br /> The following section discusses hazardous waste training and medical monitoring requirements, <br /> required observations, meetings, and documentation, Site control and safe work practices <br /> including general decontamination procedures. <br /> 5.1 Training and Medical Monitoring Requirements <br /> All personnel working on this Site who may be exposed to hazardous substances must have <br /> completed a 40-hour training program on the recognition, evaluation, and control of Site hazards <br /> and three days of supervised field training. Once personnel have received the above training, <br /> they must complete an & hour refresher course annually. Documentation of medical clearance <br /> will be required prior to the start of work. <br /> 5.2 Observations, Meetings and Documentation <br /> The Health and Safety Officer will conduct daily observations of all onsite work areas in order to <br /> evaluate the effectiveness of the HSP. Observations will typically include: availability of <br /> emergency response equipment, condition, and proper use of personal protective clothing and <br /> equipment, Site control measures, identification of health and safety hazards, decontamination <br /> methods, and assessment of subcontractor health and safety procedures. Any observed <br /> deviations from the requirements of the Site health and safety plan will be corrected and reported <br /> to the Health and Safety Officer. <br /> Health and safety meetings shall include a discussion of Site work activities, contents of the <br /> HSP, Site chemical and physical hazards, personal protective clothing and equipment, <br /> monitoring procedures, decontamination procedures, and emergency procedures and route to the <br /> hospital.
