Treadwell & Rollo has been
retained by the City of Stockton to coordinate the environmental issues at this site, which is
currently being supervised by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
(SJCEHD) in the underground storage tank (UST) program.
The City of Stockton has recently purchased the Site from San Joaquin County. Following
demolition of the existing structure and the adjacent buildings to the northwest and east, the City
of Stockton is planning to build a new parking structure with some ground floor retail space
along Channel Street. The building is currently being demolished, and we plan to destroy the
Site wells prior to demolition of subsurface improvements.
BACKGROUND
The Site consists of a large warehouse building that previously operated as a parking lot and auto
service center. In 1996, two gasoline USTs (8,000 and 1 ,000 gallons) were removed from the
sidewalk in front of the Site (Figure 2). The product lines associated with the USTs trended
approximately 30-feet from the USTs to a pump island located in the building, and were also
removed in 1996. To determine the extent of groundwater impacts from the former USTs and
dispenser pump island, four monitoring wells MW4 through MW-4 (Figure 2), were installed by
Ramage Environmental in July 2002 . From July 2002 until August 2004 the groundwater
monitoring wells were sampled as part of an ongoing groundwater monitoring program
conducted under the oversight of the SJCEHD . Results of recent quarterly monitoring can be
reviewed in the Ramage Environmental Inc report titled Groundwater Monitoring Report Second
and Third Quarters 2004, San Joaquin County Parking Garage.
Treadwell & Rollo, Inc.
