Vicky McCartney TreaftoWERdlo
San Joaquin County Environmental Division
11 January 2005
Page 2
On 15 December 2004, Treadwell & Rollo conducted the fourth quarter 2004 groundwater
monitoring. Groundwater samples were analyzed for the same analytes requested by SJCEHD in
recent monitoring. The quarterly monitoring report for the fourth quarter of 2004 is currently
being prepared.
Based on historical sampling results and the planned configuration of the new parking garage,
we anticipate that new monitoring wells will be installed in the sidewalk and in the parking
garage after construction is completed.
PROPOSED WELL DESTRUCTION
) II
Three wells are in an area with groundwater impacts (MW- 1 , MW-2 and MW-3) and shall be
destroyed by drilling out the casings and pressure grouting the holes. The remaining well, yal 7
MW-4, is located cross-gradient to the source area, has never had detectable contamination, and
shall be destroyed by pressure grouting the well casing in place. After the new building is l Jrh
constructed, monitoring wells will be replaced as approved by the SJCEHD.
All soil, groundwater and decontamination water generated during well destruction will be stored
on site pending analytical results. All borings will be destroyed in accordance with California
well destruction guidelines and SJCEHD requirements . The well destruction permit is attached. ysll
SCHEDULE Ar7 i1 •Y - ?' "'
Demolition of the building and above-ground improvements will be completed by 21 January d
2005 .
