0
October 6, 2004
NOA Project Number: LE03-034
The purge water will be tested once for each casing volume removed for basic water quality
parameters including pH, electrical conductivity, and TDS. The water quality meter to be used is a
Ultrameter 6P by Myron L. Company, serial number 616892. The portable meter will require
decontamination between wells. The required meter calibration period for pH is every two weeks
and for TDS is every month.
The well is ready for sampling when all the parameters are within±5 percent on three (3)
consecutive readings.
5.0 Purge Water Disposal
Since the purge water is not hazardous waste, the purge water will be discarded on the ground
nearby the monitoring well. If any noticeable odors or concerning physical properties are observed
in the ground water sample, the purge water will be stored in 55-gallon drums for further analysis.
6.0 Analytical Methods and Required Reporting Limits
The following are the proposed analytical methods:
Conventional Chemistry Parameters by APHA/EPA Methods
Test Parameter DLR Unit Method
Total Alkalin 1.00 m /L EPA 310.1
Carbonate Alkalinity 1.00 m /L EPA 310.1
Bicarbonate AlkaEnity 1.00 m /L EPA 310.1
H droyide Alkalin 1.00 m /L EPA 310.1
Calcium 1.0 m /L EPA 200.7
' Chloride 1.00 m /L EPA 300.0
S ecific Conductance C 1.00 umhos/crn EPA120.1
Fluoride 1.00 /L EPA 300.0
Hardness as CaCO3 6.6 m /L Calc.
' Total Cations 0.20 me /1 Calc.
Total Anions 0.226 me /1 Calc.
Potassium 1.0 m /L EPA 200.7
' Medi lene Blue Active Substances 0.0500 m /L EPA 425.1
Ma esium 1.0 m /L EPA 200.7
Sodium
1.0 m /L EPA 200.7
' g Nitrate as NO3 1.00 m /L EPA 300.0
y Nitrate as NO2 0.200 m /L EPA 300.0
CG H H units EPA 150.1
Phosphate 0.100 m /L EPA 300.0
Total Dissolved Solids 1.00 m /L EPA 160.1
Sulfate as SO4 1.00 m /L EPA 300.0
Metals by EPA 200 Series Methods
Silica(Si02) 0.200 mg/L EPA 200.7
3
