Carollo EngineersGRO
November 21, 2006(Project No. 3045.036)
3.0 WELL SAMPLING
The field personnel will bail water from each well until one of the three conditions is met:
10 well casing volumes of water have been removed from the monitoring wells; the discharge
water becomes clear, and, the measurement of conductivity, pH, and temperature in the
discharge water have stabilized. The field personnel will store all discharge water from the wells
in 55-gallon drums. The water will either be disposed at the nearby wastewater treatment plant
or it will be off-hauled to a permitted water recycling facility.
After well development, field personnel will purge each well of an additional three well
volumes before sampling. Well sampling may commence no sooner than 48 hours after the
completion of well development. The field crew will use bailers or a peristaltic pump to purge the
wells. If the recharge of the wells is very slow or takes several days for the water level to recover,
then we will consider that well development is complete when water level recovers to within
80 percent of its initial drawdown. We present below the list of chemical tests on the groundwater
samples, the EPA Analytical Methods, the units of the results, the reporting limits of the analyses,
and the holding time for the samples.
Monitoring EPA Analytical Reporting Holding
Parameter Method Limits Preservation Container Time
Alkalinity 310.1 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 48 hours
pH 9040/9045 pH number unpreserved 500 ml poly ASAP
specific conductance 120.1/9050 5 umhos/cm unpreserved 500 ml poly 14 days
total dissolved solids 160.1 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 7 days
hardness 200.7 5 mg/I unpreserved 250 ml poly 28 days
Chloride 300 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 14 days
Carbonate 310 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 14 days
Bicarbonate 310 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 14 days
Nitrate-Nitrogen 300 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 48 hours
Sulfate 300 5 mg/I unpreserved 500 ml poly 14 days
Sodium 6010 5 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Potassium 6010 5 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Calcium 6010 5 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Iron 6010 50 mg/1 HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Barium 6010 10 mg/1 HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Strontium 6010 0.1 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Aluminum 6010 50 mg/1 HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Boron 6010 2 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Manganese 6010 5 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Copper 6010 5 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Zinc 6010 5 mg/I HNO3 250 ml poly 6 months
Legend:
ASAP-As soon as possible umhos/cm-micromhos per centimeter
poly-polyvinyl plastic
G VO9 QCS\304S 045 msTwAL DOCSwPT.rNDv ooc 4
