Carollo EngineersGao
November 21,2006(Project No. 3045.036)
The groundwater samples for the volatile organic compound (VOC) analyses will be collected in
three, 40-milliliter glass containers, preserved with HNO3, and analyzed in accordance with
EPA Test Method 8260 within 14 days.
Field Parameter Units
Groundwater Elevation 0.01 ft, MSL
Temperature degree C
Either STL (ELAP #2496) of Pleasanton, California, or Advanced Technology
Laboratories (ELAP#1838) of Signal Hills, California, will perform the chemical analyses for this
project.
Fugro follows the standard chain-of-custody procedures for sample conveyance. A
chain-of-custody form accompanies the samples at all time. One person is responsible for the
samples, and he accepts this responsibility by signing the chain-of-custody form when he
receives the samples. When he relinquishes control of the samples, he again signs and the
next responsible party also signs the chain-of-custody form to identify his acceptance of the
responsibility. In this manner, Fugro tracks the integrity of each sample from the time it is
collected to its delivery to the chemical laboratory.
In order to evaluate the quality of the data from the monitoring of the well, the field crew
will collect one duplicate sample from one well for each round of sampling. The field crew will
decontaminate all sampling equipment before reuse and collect one sample from the final
rinsate of the sampling equipment that is generated during decontamination. The duplicate and
rinsate samples will be analyzed for the VOC analyses only.
4.0 PROPOSED SCHEDULE
Fugro anticipates that the CVRWCCB will complete their review of the Sampling and
Analysis Plan in December 2006 and provide their approval to proceed. The California
Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will select a Contractor to construct the brine
ponds and to install the three monitoring wells in 2007. If needed, the field crew will also install
the fourth groundwater monitoring well in 2007.
G'.U0
BOCLS1309592i50WIN&O SWT-21NOWQ 5
