(Ground Zero) is submitting this well destruction report documenting
the work performed at 1855 Jackson Avenue in Escalon, California during the fourth quarter of
2008. The location of the Site is shown on Figure 1 and an aerial view is included as Figure 2.
SITE BACKGROUND
The former Tony Gonzales Trucking facility (Site) is relatively flat and is bounded on the
northeast by Jackson Avenue, to the northwest by a residence, to the southeast by Third Street,
and to the southwest the Escalon Post Office. The Site previously utilized one 10,000-gallon
and one 500-gallon underground storage tank (UST) for the storage of diesel, and one 1,000
gallon UST for the storage of leaded gasoline. The UST's were removed on March 31, 1988.
Groundwater was not affected as indicated by analytical results. The Site is currently a residence
and has not operated as a fueling facility since 1988. Figure 3 is a site plan showing structure,
street, UST, UST soil sample, soil boring, hydropunch sample, vapor extraction well, soil gas
sample, and subsurface utility locations.
On April 14, 2008, Ground Zero submitted the Groundwater Quality Confirmation and Soil Gas
Investigation Report. In a letter dated April 22, 2008, the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board — Central Valley Region (RWQCB) stated the April 2008 Report was acceptable.
The letter recommended that a formal closure report be prepared and that the report include a list
of all properties and addresses within a 250-foot radius of the Site.
I
On May 19, 2008, a formal closure report (Appendix A) was prepared in accordance to the
Regional Board Appendix .A — Reports, Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for
G:\GROUNDZE\GONZALES\Reports\VEW Destruction Rpt.dob
I
