Kennedy/Jenks Consukenb
Section 1: Introduction
This Monitoring Well Replacement Work Plan, Sutter Home Lodi Winery(Work Plan) is
submitted by Kennedy/Jenks Consultants(Kennedy/Jenks) on behalf of the Sutter Home Lodi
Winery (Sutter Home) located at 18667 Jacob Brack Road in Lodi, California (the site).
1.1 Background
Sutter Home operates a wine production facility at the site. Process wastewater produced from
winery operations is managed in accordance with the Waste Discharge Requirements Order
No. R5-2009-0073 as modified by Order No. R5-2012-0078(collectively, the Order) issued to
Sutter Home by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
(Water Board).
Sutter Home is in the process of expanding its wine production operations at the site. Facility
expansion will result in an increased production of process wastewater requiring treatment prior
to land application to agricultural fields. Moreover, the facility expansion will necessitate both
redesign and reconfiguration of several portions of the existing land application areas (LAAs), as
well as creation of new LAAs from existing agricultural fields. A Report of Waste Discharge was
submitted to the Water Board in May 2014 (Kennedy/Jenks 2014), and revised Waste
Discharge Requirements are being developed, with adoption scheduled for June 2015. Sutter
Home has purchased property immediately west of the existing facility, which will be used for
land application of process wastewater once the updated WDRs are issued and after these
fields are reconfigured for land application of process wastewater.
1.2 Objective
Sutter Home is currently adding facilities at the Site, and expects to further expand its
production activities in 2015. Two monitoring wells and a piezometer are located in part of the
existing 15.5-acre LAA that is scheduled for reconfiguration. Specifically, this LAA will be
converted from a grass plot irrigated with a sprinkler system to a cropped field irrigated via
surface flow. There are two groundwater monitoring wells and one former piezometer located
within the LAA that need to be relocated to allow future cropping activities including plowing,
seeding and harvesting. This Work Plan describes the proposed removal and replacement of
the monitoring wells.
Monitoring Well Replacement Work Plan Page 1
Sutter Home Winery, Lodi, California
g YsgrouoWM*bll18`AB65 5.15_¢ homeOPep install VglXtdoc
