Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
In many of the soil borings, the upper 8 to 9 feet consisted of silty sand, and in borings KB-4 and
KB-6 the entire 10 feet of the boring consisted of silty or well-graded sand. The clay and silt P
soils logged in the soil borings were very stiff to stiff and typically had low to no plasticity.
Although some soils were very stiff to stiff, no cemented 'hardpans' were observed. The soil rr
boring logs and analytical results were included in the ROWD (Kennedy/Jenks 2008).
2.3.2 Hydrogeology
Generally, the subsurface consists of a mixture of silty or clayey layers, although well-graded
i
sand was reported in the boring for GW-6 and poorly-graded sand in the borings for GW-9,
GWA0, GWA1, GWA2, GWA5, and GWA8. I
In the soil borings, the first-encountered groundwater was typically observed at the base of the
silty sand just above a deeper clay or silt layer. Groundwater was also observed in the clay and
silt layers if sand was absent. The stabilized groundwater levels in the wells indicate that the j
shallow aquifer is unconfined.
2.3.2.1 Groundwater Gradient it
Groundwater monitoring data indicate that the groundwater flow direction at the facility is
generally from east to west. The highest groundwater levels are typically measured in January
or February. February 2013 groundwater elevations on the east side of the site ranged from
5.48 feet above Mean Sea Level (MSL) at GWA to 6.58 feet above MSL at GWA7, while those
on the west side ranged from 3.59 feet above MSL at GW-14 to 3.87 feet above MSL at GW-6.
The groundwater elevations presented in the monitoring reports are measured relative to
Condor Control Point No. 1. The survey report included in Condor(2002) indicates this control
T
point is at elevation 14.48 but does not provide the datum. Subsequent Condor monitoring
reports state that groundwater elevations are referenced to a "relative datum", probably
meaning Condor Control Point No. 1.
The groundwater gradient magnitude based on the elevations referenced to the relative datum
is typically around 0.0005 feet per foot. The small gradient magnitude is a function of the
proximity to the Delta and the flat local topography. 1
2.3.2.2 Facility Groundwater Quality
Condor has monitored the groundwater quality at the facility on behalf of Sutter Home
since 2002. The analytical results for TDS from a recent groundwater sampling event involving
onsite wells (February 2013) are summarized in Table 3. The TDS concentration data indicate
some variability which is difficult to attribute to specific activities. However, these TDS j
concentrations are also consistent with those measured in wells throughout the region.
2.4 Water Supply
Source water for facility operations is supplied by a groundwater supply well located at the
eastern side of the site. The supply well provides water for both domestic and process uses. A ;a
well log for the supply well was not available but the well was reportedly drilled to 225 feet bgs,
installed with 16-inch diameter casing and 30 feet of screen at the bottom of the well.
al
Page 6 Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan e
Sutter Home Winery, Lodi, California
O!i.*.d .'gobOW6500513 swerhvmeNWep4 ,MWw Ada
