Please review the complaint and, upon final disposition, please use our feedback form to notify
Cal/EPA of your agency's actions taken in response to this complaint.
Cal/EPA Confidential or Anonymous Complaint
This Complainant has requested that their identity be kept CONFIDETIAL or they remain
ANONYMOUS!
It is Cal/EPA's policy to maintain the confidentiality and anonymity of complaints, complainants and the
information provided in complaints to the extent allowed by law and as requested by the complaining party. In
following up on a complaint, you may only share information with other government enforcement personnel
involved in the referral. Definitions and explanations are provided below for reference.
Anonymous Complaint:
An "anonymous complaint" is one where the complainant provides no identifying data(e.g. name, address,
phone number, etc.). An anonymous complaint merely supplies allegations regarding the suspected unlawful
conduct. Anonymous complaints may compromise an investigation by preventing the responding agency from
fully investigating the matter. In some cases, anonymous complaints may be deprioritized or not investigated at
all, depending on the investigating agency's policies and resources. Anonymous complainants will not be
contacted in any manner unless partial identifying information is provided, i.e.,telephone number or email
address, even though the anonymous box is checked. In such cases, it is up to the discretion of the BDO or local
partner as to whether to use that information to contact the complainant.
1
