Soil and groundwater sampling will be performed in theells,
starting 1-2 feet below the vertical extent of the wells. Well destruction and samplill beperformed in accordance with the Revised Drywell Closure and Investigation Work Plan, d014
and revised March 20, 2014, prepared by NOA.
' Destruction and sampling of the western well (DW-1) was performed first on March 28, 2014. The well was
over-drilled using a 12-inch hollow stem auger until 47 feet bgs. Depth of casing was determined to be 40 feet
bgs. At 47 feet bgs, switched to 8-inch hollow stem auger. Soil sampling sleeves and groundwater containers
were pre-chilled in ice chests. Borehole logs were taken once soil sampling began and logging of native material
was possible. The first soil samples were taken at 51 feet bgs ("131@51'-I" and "B1@51'-II'D using the 8-inch
hollow stem auger. Soil samples were then taken every 5 feet until groundwater was encountered. Soil samples
were collected at 55 feet bgs ("Bl@55'-I' at 60 feet bgs ("BS@60'-I", "131@6W-II-A"'"B1-60'-II-B'O, and at 65
feet bgs ("61-65'-I'. In general, the soil samples from the bottom of the sampler were collected because those
contained the most sample. Groundwater was first encountered at 65.5 feet bgs. Groundwater sample"WS-I"
was collected to be analyzed for VOCs. Groundwater pH, temperature, EC,TDS, and DO were analyzed using a
field meter. There was not enough groundwater to collect further groundwater samples. Therefore, drilling with
the 8-Inch hollow stem auger continued until groundwater was encountered again. Soil samples were taken at
70 feet bgs ("131@70'-I' and 75 feet bgs ("131@75'-I'. Groundwater was encountered again at 75 feet bgs. pH,
temperature, EC, TDS, and DO were also measured at this depth. The following groundwater samples were
collected: "Wl-II"for RCRA metals,"Wl-III"for TPH-Gas, "Wi-IV"for TRPH,"WI-V"for TPH-Diesel, and"WS-
VI" for Semi-VOCs. An equipment blank for soil sampling was taken ("EB-S") as well as one for groundwater
sampling ("EB-W'. A replicate sample was additionally taken during soil sampling and split between two
' identical containers, labeled: "Bl@60'-II-A" and "131@60'4I-13". The replicate sample for groundwater will be
collected from the eastern well (DW-2).The western well was then grouted using Portland Cement Type II/IV.
Only the destruction of DW-1 was completed on March 28, 2014. The eastern drywell (DW-2) was covered to
prevent storm water from running into the well. A full 55-gallon drum was placed on top of a piece of plywood
with a bentonite seal around it, which covered both wells. The destruction and sampling of DW-2 will be
performed the following week March 31-April 4 2014 weather permitting.
Inspector Signature
LODI • SACRAMENTO • CONCORD
CORPORATE 902lndustrial Way • Lodi,CA 95240 • 209.367.3701 • FAX 209.333.8303
