WORK PLAN
FOR GROUND WATER WELL INSTALLATION AND MONITORING
PORT OF STOCKTON-ROUGH AND READY ISLAND,CALIFORNIA
Second, an estimate of the attenuation capacity of the foundation soil is required, which
was determined by using the lowest value from the SSURGO database (ERS, 2013).
The Request for Amendment to NOA—Docks 8 through 11 Maintenance Dredging Port
of Stockton East Complex, Stockton, CA presented evidence that the attenuation
capacity of the foundation soil was high enough to safely accommodate placement of
dredge spoils from the maintenance dredging of Docks 8 through 11 (ERS, 2013).
This calculation was performed using a conservative CEC value obtained from the
SSURGO database. The soil sampling planned at this site will seek to characterize the
concentrations of chemical constituents in the foundation soil, allowing for a more
accurate determination of the soil's CEC. Soil samples will be collected at the time of
monitoring well installation.
3. MONITOR WELL INSTALLATION
The following details the specific tasks to install and sample monitor wells at MO-1.
Implementation of this Work Plan will commence following approval by the Regional
Board, when access to MO-1 is feasible and safe by the required personnel and
associated equipment, and when property owners provide access to the area. All
reasonable attempts will be made to implement the Work Plan as soon as possible.
All work will be performed under the supervision of a California Registered Geologist,
or California Professional Engineer. All laboratory analyses will be performed by a
California certified laboratory. All drilling and well installation will be performed in
accordance with the California Department of Water Resources Well Standards Bulletin
74-81 and supplemental update 74-90. The work proposed herein incorporates by
reference the standard operation procedures, protocols, and forms submitted
previously in the Groundwater Sampling and Analysis Plan (Geomatrix, 2003).
3.1 TASK 1: PERMITTING,UTILITY CLEARANCE,AND HEALTH AND
SAFETY PLAN
As described below, drilling activities are planned at MO-1. Therefore, appropriate
permits for these activities will be acquired from San Joaquin County and the City of
Stockton. Underground Services Alert (USA) will be notified to clear the proposed
drilling locations for underground utilities. The proposed drilling locations are
contingent upon access limitations (e.g. site features, utilities) and final locations may be
moved to the closest accessible location.
September 2014 7 Environmental Risk Services i r✓
Corporation •r ✓
