06 January 2017
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0877
• Permitting and pre-field work activities,
• Drilling of soil borings, soil-vapor well installation,
• Collection of soil-vapor samples,
• Preparation of report of findings.
Each of these tasks are discussed below in detail.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable drilling and site assessment permits will be submitted to the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (EHD), while encroachment permits will be
obtained from the City of Stockton Public Works Department. As required by EHD
permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational
Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to drilling activities, each proposed drilling
location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground
Service Alert.
2.2. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
AGE proposes to drill three shallow, soil borings (SV-1 through SV-3) at the site as part
of a soil-vapor investigation and to evaluate potential vapor intrusion. Proposed soil boring
locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
Based upon laboratory results of soil samples and groundwater monitoring well samples
collected during the investigation, AGE proposes the soil-vapor well pilot boring locations
in the following areas:
• Soil boring SV-1 will be located at the eastern edge of the property building, and
approximately 15 feet south of the former UST area, (eastern wall of building).
• Soil boring SV-2 will be located at the eastern edge of the property building, and
approximately 15 feet west of the former UST area (northeastern corner of
building).
• Soil boring SV-3 will be located across North Hunter Street, and approximately 75
feet northeast of former UST area (near monitoring well MW-5).
Soil and soil-vapor samples will be collected from borings SV-1 through SV-3 at depths
of approximately 5 feet (soil) and 6a/2 feet (soil-vapor) below surface grade (bsg). Field
procedures for advancement of soil borings, collection of soil sample, installation of soil-
vapor sampling points and collection of soil-vapor samples are presented in Section 3.2.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
