INTRODUCTION At the request of Mr. Vince Erardi, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan -May 2002 for the property at 715 North Hunter Street, Stockton, California (the site). This work plan provides a description of the scope of work and !. procedures to be used fortbe installation of four groundwater monitoring wells,advancementof one deep soil boring,soil and groundwater sample collection and analysis and soil boring abandonment. The location is illustrated on Figure 1; a plan view of the site is illustrated on Figure 2. The work plan was prepared to define the vertical and lateral extent of soil and ground water contamination at the site,as required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department -� (EHD) by letter, dated 05 April 2002. A copy of the EHD directive letter can be found in Appendix A. - 2.0. BACKGROUND The site is located on the northwest corner of Park Street and North Hunter Street in a L commercial/residential area of Stockton, California(Figure 1). Based on historical research of the area, the site began dispensing fuel in the 1930's or 1940's and ceased prior to 1986. The site l- operated as a car dealership until approximately 1987; since 1987 the site has operated as an auto service repair shop. 2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING JThe site is located within the northern San Joaquin Valley,which comprises part of the Great Valley geomorphic province of California. The San Joaquin Valley is formed by the Great Valley geosyncline, which is a large,elongate, northwest-trending asymmetrical structural trough(basin). It is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west, the Klamath Mountains and Cascade Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the east. This trough has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources. Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers _ along the valley edges to more than 20,000 feet in the south central portion of the valley. The sedimentary formations range in age with the older deposits being primarily marine in origin and the younger deposits being primarily continental. Continental-derived sediments were primarily L deposited in lacustrine,fluvial,and alluvial environments with sediment sources being the mountain ranges surrounding the valley(Olmsted and Davis, 1961).The site is located on unconsolidated and Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. i
