(ATC) for the above subject site and provides the following comments . In the WP ATC proposes to advance two soil borings to a total depth of 35 feet below surface grade, collect soil samples from the borings , and collect groundwater samples from MW-3 to conduct a bench scale study to evaluate the potential effects of ozone treatment on the soil and groundwater at the site . The bench scale study was described in Work Plan to Conduct a Feasibility Study for Ozone Pilot Testing (WP) dated August 6, 2008. A feasibility report will be prepared based on the results of the bench scale test. The EHD approves of the WP as adequate and necessary. However, the EHD recommends that you consult with the laboratory that will conduct the bench scale test regarding the locations for collecting the proposed soil samples . The EHD has previously been advised that soil should be collected in the area of contamination and from an area where there is no contamination (preferably upgradient) . Submit to the EHD the necessary well permit applications , the $89. 00 permit fee and the $315 . 00 inspection fee for each parcel drilled ; and copies of the access agreements for each off site parcel drilled and an encroachment permit for the boring (s) in the public right of way. Once the well permits have been approved , notify EHD of the proposed schedule for the work. The EHD requires a minimum 48-hour notice prior to initiation of any field work on the site.
