f
Project No. 014-94276
Page No. 2
3.0 SITE DESCRIPTION
The project site is currently occupied by an existi ig Boston Market Restaurant (Figure 2). The
}
property consists of a single restaurant building with surr unding concrete sidewalks, asphaltic concrete
k paving, and landscaping. Three monitoring wells are located n the subject site. Monitoring wells MW-1 and
MW-2 are located in the northern portion of the subject site along Kettleman Lane. Monitoring well MW-6
is located near the southwestern corner of the restaurant building in an area of landscaping.
4.0 GEOLOGIC &HYDROLOGIC SETTING
The topography of the site is relatively Ievel. The s to is located within the northernmost portion of
the San Joaquin Valley, which is situated between the Sierra Nevada and the Coastal Ranges of California.
The San Joaquin Valley makes up the southern portion of th Great Central Valley.
Unconsolidated materials found in the vicinity of the project site are generally composed of alluvial
deposits of sands, silty sands, and silts with some minor clays and gravels. The source rock for this material
is primarily the granitic and metamorphic rocks located in the Sierra Nevada. Sediments currently at or near
the surface are believed to be of Quaternary Age (2 million years old or younger) alluvium derived from the
nearby Sierra Nevada.
Sounding data for the site collected by Geraghty &Miller in October of 1994 indicated that depth to
groundwater was approximately 65 feet below grade with g oundwater flow in a southerly direction.
1 5.0 BACKGROUND
I
Three monitoring wells currently exist on the subject property. Monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2
were constructed by Geraghty & Miller in October 1994 on behalf of Boston Market.. Construction
IJ specifications of these wells are provided in Appendix A. Monitoring well MW-6 was damaged during
construction of the Boston Market Restaurant. This well was constructed by Brown & Caldwell in July of
1987. Because the monitoring wells are no longer in use or are damaged, Boston Market and the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (EHD) have requested the wells be destroyed.
E I
KRAZAN& ASSOCIATES,INC.
Offices Serving the Western United States
94M.BC
t ,
j
