Kettleman Lane
Lodi, California
Dear Mr- Knoll:
This letter, prepared by SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) on behalf of
AtlanticRichfield Company (ARCO), presents a work plan for batch extraction of
groundwater from well W-9 at the site referenced above. The objective of batch
extraction at this site is to remove oil and grease recently discovered in well W-9 during
the third quarter 2000 monitoring event. Batch extraction will be accomplished by.
pumping well W-9 using a submersible groundwater pump. This work plan includes a
brief discussion of site background, proposed scope of work, and schedule.
SITE DESCRIPTION AND .BACKGROUND
The site is located at 501 W. Kettleman Lane in Lodi, California. The site is an active
AMIPM mini-mart and ARCO service station. Three gasoline underground storage
tanks (USTs) and associated product lines and dispensers are present at the site.
Currently, six site wells are monitored and sampled quarterly. During the third quarter
2000 sampling event, oil and grease were found to be present in well W-9- Prior to the
third quarter 2000, well W-9 has had no reported concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons. A SECOR sampling technician noted that it appeared as though used oil
had beenoured down the well. Analytical results from well W-9 report concentrations
p Y P
of oil and grease at 430,000 ppb and TPHg at 113 ppb. Analytical reports and chain-of-
custody documentation are included as Attachment A.
I
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for the proposed batch extraction of groundwater will include the
pumping of groundwater from well W-9 as discussed below.
• Groundwater Extraction. Groundwater extraction will include the pumping of
groundwater from well W-9. Groundwater will be pumped from the above-
mentioned well using a submersible groundwater extraction pump.
