SCOPE OF WORK
HOLLY SUGAR CORPORATION
TRACY, CALIFORNIA, PLANT
At the written request of the California Regional
Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region
(RWQCB) , dated June 18, 1985, Holly Sugar Corporation
prepared a ground-water monitoring plan for the wastewater
and irrigation ponds at the Tracy Plant. The monitoring
plan was revised and re-submitted on October 26, 1989 . The
objective of the revised plan is to determine if degrada-
tion of ground-water quality has occurred in the vicinity
of the ponds at the plant. Written approval by RWQCB of
the monitoring plan was sent to Holly Sugar Corporation on
July 19, 1991.
The ground-water monitoring plan provides for the
installation of five wells around the wastewater ponds and
three wells around the irrigation pond. The boreholes will
be drilled with 6-inch I.D. , hollow-stem augers to a
maximum depth of 40 feet. The wells will be screened
across the shallowest, fine- to medium-grained, saturated
sand unit. The wells will be completed with 4-inch I.D. ,
schedule 40, flush-threaded PVC screen (0. 010 slot) and
casing. The screen length for each well will be 10 to 15
feet. A locking steel protective casing and marker posts
will be installed at each well site.
Ground-water will be sampled as part of the surface
and subsurface water quality monitoring program at the
Tracy Plant. The life of the wells will be determined by
the presence or absence of ground-water quality degradation
at the plant site.
