KLEINFELDER
1
The extractable TPH and purgeable TPH concentrations detected in the two deep samples
beneath tanks 12 and 13 indicate that petroleum hydrocarbons have impacted the soil to a
vertical depth of 18 feet As the petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations were detected at
the bottom of the borings, the vertical extent of contamination is not known Kleinfelder
' recommends drilling an additional boring to assess the vertical migration of the
hydrocarbons. Additionally, if petroleum hydrocarbons are found to extend to ground
' water, Kleinfelder recommends sampling the ground water to assess for the possible impact
by petroleum hydrocarbons Once the vertical extent of contamination has been evaluated,
additional borings may be necessary to assess the lateral extent of contamination The
need to remediate the soil can be evaluated based on the State of California, Leaking
Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) Field Manual Guidelines for maximum allowable TPH
concentrations. The need for soil remediation will be evaluated based on TPH
concentrations, depth of contammation, depth to ground water and average annual rainfall
The above conclusions and recommendations are subject to the limitations included in
' Section b of this report
FR25-91-29 Page 2 of 11
' Copyright 1991 Kleinfelder,Inc ;i
