KLEINFELDER
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Task 1: Work Plan and Permit Preparation
A boring permit is required from San Joaquin Environmental Health Division prior to
drilling a soil boring in the county. The SJEHD has requested a site investigation work
plan be submitted and reviewed before a boring permit will be issued The work plan
presents the proposed scope of work including-
0 Boring locations
o Method of drilling
o Soil sampling procedures
o Decontamination procedures
o Chemical analysis
o Report preparation
A work plan presents a specific scope of work so that there is a clear understanding of the
required investigative procedures between the client and the regulatory agencies
Kleinfelder has prepared this proposal to be adequate as a work plan for agency approval
If additional information is required by the SJEHD, additional costs will be incurred
Task 2: Drilling and Sampling of Borings
A total of six borings will be drilled at the locations shown on Plates 1 and 2 As buildings
• are reported to be along side the three tanks, a boring will be located approximately 3 feet
from each end of tank T1 and two borings will be advanced near the pump island at T1
Two angle borings will be drilled at the east ends of T2 and T3
At site #1, the end borings at T1 will be drilled vertically to first encountered ground water
or a maximum depth of 25 feet Additionally, two shallow (3 to 5 feet deep)samples will
be collected from borings adjacent to the pump island At Tl, if no field observable
evidence of contamination is encountered in the proposed borings, San Joaquin may like to
authorize additional shallow borings in the vicinity of the fuel piping to assist with the
assessment of the tank system failure As additional costs for drilling and sample analysis
may be incurred, San Joaquin County will be advised of the current state of the assessment
and verbal authorization will be requested prior to drilling the additional borings
At site #2, because of obstructions (utilities and buildings), one angle boring is proposed
per tank (T2 and T3). The borings will be angled such that one soil sample can be
collected at a depth of approximately 10 feet at the east end of the tank (four feet beneath
the bottom of the tanks), and a second sample can be collected at a depth of 15 to 20 feet
(9 to 14 feet beneath the bottom of the tanks)
Soil borings will be advanced using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-inch hollow
stem augers The borings will be drilled, togged, and sampled following the protocol
described in Attachment A, Sections A-21 through A-2.4, and closed as described in
Section A-2 7.
•
FR25-91-23 Page 2 of 3
Copyright 1991 Klemfelder,Inc
