KLEINFELDER
. Task 3: Laboratory Analysis
Two soil samples from each UST boring and one soil sample from each pump island boring
will be submitted for laboratory analysis The samples will be selected based on field
observations, qualitative screening results, and the objectives of the investigation The soil
samples will be submitted to a laboratory certified by the State of California Department of
Health Services (Enseco in West Sacramento or APPL in Fresno) for the proposed
analyses The samples will be analyzed for.
o Extractable total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) by EPA method 8015M/3550
o Purgeable TPH by EPA method 8015M/5030
o Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA method 8020
The samples will be analyzed on a regular turnaround schedule, usually requiring 15
working days for completion.
While the laboratory is performing the requested analysis, the field observations, and
chain-of-custody information (such as sample location, identification, date, time, matrix,
and laboratory) will be entered in Kleinfelder's environmental database (ENVIS) Once
the laboratory has completed the requested analyses for a sample or a group of samples,
the analytical data are transferred electronically into the ENVIS database, where it is
checked for inconsistencies in sample numbers, analytical units, and reported
concentrations versus reporting limits The analytical data is then reviewed and analyzed
using the "query" and/or statistical capabilities of ENVIS prior to being output in tabular or
graphical format for inclusion in reports
Task 4: Prepare a Report of Findings
Upon completion of soil sampling, and receipt and review of analytical results, a report of
findings will be prepared for client use The report will include
o A description of field activities,°observations, and protocols;
o Lithologic logs,
o Tabularized results of soil sample analysis with copies of certified analytical
laboratory results;
o Description and documentation of QA/QC procedures employed for field and
laboratory work
i
0
FR25-91-23 Page 3 of 3
Copyright 1991 Kleinfelder,Inc
