All groundwater sample containers were
sealed, labeled, and placed in a cooler chilled with ice and delivered under chain-of-custody procedures to
Argon for analyses. The samples were analyzed using U.S. EPA and California-approved methods.
5.3 LABORATORY ANALYSES
The groundwater samples collected during the pump test were analyzed for BTEX and selected gasoline
' oxygenates/additives by EPA Method 8260B, and TPH-G by Method 8015B. The selected
oxygenates/additives included MTBE, EtOH, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, 1,2-DCA, and EDB. The
analytical methods and analytical detection limits are presented in Table 7, below.
' Table 7 ump Test Laboratory Analytical Results November 18 and 21, 2003
Constituent: Benzene Toluene Ethyl Total Benzene Xylenes TPH-i MTBE Other Oxygenates
Detection Limit: 0.5 0.5 0.5 1.0 50 0.5 0.5-5.0
Sample 1D µg/L µ€/L Ag/l µ!'/L µg/L µ/'IL "g/L*
3761E-In-11/18/03 <0.5 <0.5 Q.5 <1.0 <50 360 0.8 TAME
3761E-Out-11/18/03 <0.5 <0.5 <0.5 <1.0 <50 <0.5 <0,5-5.0
' 3761B-In-11/21/03 <0.5 <0.5 <0.5 <1.0 <50 870 1.2 TAME
3761 B-Out-11/21/03 <0.5 <0.5 <0.5 <1.0 <50 <0.5 <0.5-5.0
*=See laboratory reports in Appendix F for actual laboratory reported detection limits.
Other Oxygenates=MTBE,TBA,DI PE,ETBE,TAME,1,2-DCA,and EDB
Unit Conversions: lig/l_=micrograms per liter= parts per billion(ppb)
' Laboratory analytical results for the groundwater sample collected from the influent port on November
18, 2003, indicate that TPH-G, BTEX, and gasoline oxygenates/additives, with the exception of MTBE
' and TAME, were not detected at or above the laboratory reported detection limits; MTBE and TAME
were detected at concentrations of 360 µg/L and 0.8 µg/L, respectively. Laboratory analytical results for
the groundwater sample collected from the influent port on November 21, 2003, indicate that TPH-G,
BTEX, and gasoline oxygenates/additives, with the exception of MTBE and TAME, were not detected at
' or above the laboratory reported detection limits; MTBE and TAME were detected at concentrations of
870 tig/L and 1.2 }tg/L, respectively. Laboratory analytical results indicate that petroleum hydrocarbon
constituents were not detected at or above the laboratory reported detection limits in either of the
' groundwater samples collected from the discharge port. Laboratory analytical results indicate that the
treated groundwater met the requirements of the IWDP prior to discharge to the City sanitary sewer.
5.4 DISCUSSION
Graphs in Appendix C show the response of the pumped well, MW-11, and the observation wells, MW-9 and
EW-1, to the pumping rate of 8.7 gallons per minute {gpm) used during the pump test. Water level responses
i
to the drawdown at MWA 1 were observed at both observation wells. Unfortunately, the transducer at MW-9
. malfunctioned late in the active pumping period At the end of the three-day active pumping period, the pump
was turned off and water level responses to the recovery were observed at MW-11 and EW-1 for a period of
' three days.
1
' CONDOR
