kTJ KLEINFELDER
An employee owned company
File No.65570.E01
February 1 , 2006
Mr. Stephen Perez
Granite Construction
P.O. Box 151
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Workplan
Monitoring Well Abandonment
Del Webb- Woodbridge
APN: 204-100-11
Manteca, California
Dear Mr. Perez,
Kleinfelder is pleased to present this workplan for the abandonment of two (2)
groundwater monitoring wells at the proposed Del Webb-Woodbridge development in
Manteca, California. This workplan has been prepared due to the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department requirement for a workplan, prior to the issuing of a
well destruction permit.
BACKGROUND
Mr. Stephen Perez of Granite Construction contacted Kleinfelder to properly abandon
two groundwater monitoring wells in accordance with the San Joaquin County Well
Standards. The monitoring wells were previously associated with the Suprema Cheese
facility located west of the proposed development and Airport Road. It is our
understanding that Suprema Cheese was responsible for monitoring the shallow
groundwater due to discharges of waste/process water related to the production of
cheese products in accordance with the California Regional Water Quality Control
Board (RWQCB) waste discharge requirements. Suprema Cheese no longer uses the
parcel for the discharge of water and has reportedly been released of monitoring
requirements for the parcel on which the monitoring wells are located. The monitoring
wells were designated MW-1 and MW-2 and are located on APN 204-100-11.
According to the San Joaquin County Assessors Office, the address associated with the
parcel is 14236 South Airport Way.
Kleinfelder visited the site on January 31 , 2006 to verify the locations and measured the
total depth of each well. The wells were constructed of 4-inch PVC and the total
depths were measured at approximately 31 feet and 28 feet below the tops of the
casings, which extended approximately three feet above the ground surface.
65570.E01/ST06R101R/FB:Iv Page 1 of 3
©2006, Kleinfelder, Inc.
