VLEINFELDER
Task 1 — Pre-Field Activities
Kleinfelder will obtain a boring/well permit from the EHD. Additionally, Kleinfelder will
arrange, schedule, and supervise the subcontractors needed to accomplish the well
abandonment process. Underground Service Alert (USA) will be contacted at least 48
hours prior to conducting any on site excavation to locate utilities that may encroach onto
the project site.
Task 2 —Abandonment of Two Monitoring Wells
In accordance with the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Well Standards the
wells are required to be abandoned properly. Each well will be drilled out, using 10-inch
augers, to approximately 1-foot below the total depth of the casing (approximately 26
and 29 feet below ground surface). The borehole will be backfilled with a neat cement
mixture to approximately 1-foot below the existing site grade via tremmie pipe. The
remainder of the excavation will be backfilled with the native soil.
Task 3 — Reporting
Upon completion of the field activities, a letter report for the abandonment of the well
will be prepared for client and agency review. The report will include:
• A description of the field activities and observations
• A California Department of Water Resources Well Drillers Report, DWR Form
188, REV 11-97 1987
All information gathered during the operation by Kleinfelder is considered confidential
and will be released only upon written authorization from the client or as required by
law. California law requires a person to inform the state if a situation is encountered
that can be considered an immediate endangerment to the public's health or welfare
and/or to the environment. Therefore, the client will be contractually bound to make
any said disclosures in lieu of Kleinfelder, its owners, principals, employees or
subcontractors.
LIMITATIONS
If during the course of the performance of Kleinfelder's services, hazardous materials
are discovered, Kleinfelder will assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any
claim, loss of property value, damage or injury that results from pre-existing hazardous
materials being encountered or present on the project site, or from the discovery of
such hazardous materials.
Regulations and Professional Standards applicable to Kleinfelder's services are
continually evolving.
