A 55 gallon black steel(drum which previously held used oil was observed in the hazardous waste <br /> storage area behind the auto shop without empty labeling. Containers larger than five gallons that <br /> previously held a hazardous] material shall be marked as empty with the date they were emptied and <br /> managed within one year oflbeing emptied. Immediately mark and manage all empty containers per this <br /> section. <br /> 605. A 55 gallon black steel rum of oily debris and a 55 gallon black steel drum of used oil were <br /> observed in the hazardous aste storage area behind the auto shop with faded, illegible labels. A <br /> container of metal grindings as observed under one of the brake rotor smoothing machine without a lid <br /> in the auto shop. Metal grin ings were observed on and around both of the brake rotor smoothing <br /> machines in the auto shop. ans of paint was observed without hazardous waste labeling in the old <br /> drama department. Accordi g to the facility staff, the drama department was closed approximately five <br /> years ago and all of the pain on site is waste, with no other use at the school. A 5 gallon white plastic <br /> bucket of chemicals was ob erved in the biology classroom with a blank hazardous waste label. <br /> According to the teacher, th chemicals were waste he collected from another room. All hazardous <br /> waste containers shall be m rked with the following information: <br /> 1. the words "Hazardous aste" <br /> 2. name and address of enerator <br /> 3. hazardous properties ( lammable, corrosive, reactive, toxic) <br /> 4. physical state (liquid, s lid) <br /> 5. composition (contents) <br /> 6. accumulation start dat <br /> The metal grindings were m ved to a properly labeled hazardous waste container at the time of <br /> inspection. Immediately lab I these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the <br /> required information. Since i cannot be determined how long the metal waste and paint waste have <br /> been on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of these wastes under <br /> manifest and submit a copy f the manifest to the EHD by May 9, 2014. REPEAT VIOLATION <br /> 610. A 55 gallon black steel rum of used oil filters was observed outside the auto shop labeled as "oil <br /> filters." Used oil filters must e stored in a closed, rainproof container, labeled as "drained used oil <br /> filters," and marked with an a cumulation start date. Immediately correct the label on this container and <br /> ensure that all used oil filters�are managed in this way.
