Ms. Diane Hinson APR 10 1992
April 8, 1992 ;NVIRflMMENTAL. HEA i H
Page Two PERMIT/SERV'ICES
Types of ARARs include action-specific, site-specific, and
chemical-specific ARARs. Action-specific ARARs are usually
technology or activity based requirements or limitations on
actions taken with respect to hazardous wastes. Chemical-
specific ARARs are usually health or risk based numerical values
or methodologies which, when applied to site specific conditions
result in a numerical value (i.e. , drinking water maximum
contaminant levels) . Site-specific or location-specific ARARs
are usually restrictions placed on the concentrations of
hazardous substances or the conduct of activities solely because
they occur in special locations (i.e. , wetlands, etc. ) .
The Department requests your ARAR determination as soon as
possible, or at least by May 11, 1992 . Please use the enclosed
ARAR Identification Form and mail your response to:
Jim Pinasco
Department of Toxic Substances Control
10151 Croydon Way, Suite 3
Sacramento, CA 95827-2106
Once the ARARs have been received, the Department will
prepare a summary draft of ARARs identified.
Thank you for your time and effort in this matter. If you
should have any comments or questions, please contact Mr. Jim
Pinasco at (916) 855-7874 . Your prompt reply is greatly
appreciated.
Sincerely,
C"/z
i
David Wang, P.E.
Chief, Federal Facilities Unit
Site Mitigation Branch
Enclosures
cc: Mr. Abel W.
