a <br /> CAMBRIA <br /> B-7, and B-9 The results of this investigation are documented in Aegis' October 16, 1989 <br /> Pre-Tank Replacement Site Assessment Results Report <br /> In October 1990, Aegis installed Wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 Soil and groundwater <br /> samples collected from these well borings were ND for TPPH and benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) This investigation is summarized in Aegis' March 26, <br /> 1991 Site Assessment/Monitoring Well Installation Results Report <br /> In August 1995, Fugro drilled Boring B-17 and installed Well MW-4 TPPH and BTEX were <br /> ND in soil samples collected from these borings <br /> Site closure was granted by the RWQCB in a letter dated July 18, 1996 On October 15, <br /> 1996, Enviros, Inc (Enviros) destroyed Wells MW-1 through MW-4 by pressure grouting <br /> These activities are described in Enviros' November 19, 1996 Well Destruction Report <br /> SAMPLING ACTIVITIES AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS <br /> • Pre-Characterization Soil Borings To pre-characterize the sods before the USTs were <br /> removed, Cambria drilled six shallow soil borings near the UST pit and the dispenser islands <br /> (SB-A through SB-F) on October 15, 1998 Cambria obtained boring permit 4017216 from <br /> the SJCPHS (Appendix A) Gregg Drilling, Inc of Martinez, California drilled Borings SB-A <br /> through SB-C using a 2-inch diameter GeoProbe' and Borings SB-D through SB-F were drilled <br /> using a hand auger Boring depths ranged from 2 5 to 16 0 feet below grade (fbg) Soil boring <br /> specifications are listed on Table 1 and locations are shown on Plate 2 Sediment Iithology is <br /> described on the Exploratory Boring Logs (Appendix B) Soil samples were analyzed for <br /> TPPH by EPA Method 8015 (Modified), BTEX by EPA Method 8020, total lead by EPA <br /> Method 6010A, and fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8260 <br /> No TPPH, BTEX, or methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) was detected in any of the soil <br /> borings The analytical results are summarized on Table 2 and Plate 2 and included in <br /> Appendix C <br /> UST Removal One 10,000-gallon, one 8,000-gallon, and one 5,000-gallon steel gasoline <br /> USTs were removed on January 19, 1999 Ms Kasey Foley of the SJCPHS and Cambria field <br /> staff were present to witness the removal and condition of the tanks The tanks were in fair <br /> condition with no holes or obvious signs of tank failure <br /> 241-1346 2 <br />
