Project No 58080-06-01C <br /> August 31, 1994 <br />' California-certified onsite mobile laboratory for TPHg and BTEX The <br /> completed soil vapor probes were backfilled with a lean grout/bentonite mixture <br />' Task 3 - Soil Borings <br /> The following field activities were performed during excavation of onsite soil borings <br />' Advanced five exploratory borings (GB-1 through GB-5) utilizing a CME 75 <br /> truck-mountcd, hollow stem auger drill rig at the locations depicted on Figure <br /> 2 The borings were advanced to depths between 50 and 55 feet below the <br /> existing ground surface (bgs) The completed borings were backfilled with <br /> bentonite-cement grout Descriptive logs of the lithology encountered during the <br /> advancement of the borings and soil sample depths are presented in Appendix <br /> A <br /> Collected continuous soil samples from borings GB-1 through GB-5 utilizing a <br /> ' 5-foot-long split spoon sampler Six-inch-long by 2-inch diameter brass sample <br /> tubes were pushed into the soil cores at selected intervals to facilitate sample <br /> handling and storage The sample tubes were capped, labeled, chilled, and <br /> transported to a California-certified environmental laboratory (Excelchem <br /> Environmental Laboratories) utilizing standard chain-of-custody procedures <br /> ' The soil cores were field screened with a photo ionization detector (PID) to <br /> assess possible qualitative indicators of volatile organic compounds <br /> ' Submitted 26 soil samples to the analytical laboratory for testing of total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), diesel (TPHd), and motor oil <br /> (TPHmo) following EPA Test Method 8015 modified and BTEX following EPA <br /> Test Method 8020 <br /> Quality assurance/quality control procedures were provided during the field <br /> exploration activities These procedures included cleansing/rinsing of the <br /> ' sampling equipment, steam cleaning augers prior to and between borings, and <br /> providing chain-of-custody documentation for each soil sample transferred to the <br /> laboratory Cleansing/rinsing of the sampling equipment was performed prior <br /> to the collection of each soil sample by washing the equipment with a trisodium <br /> phosphate solution followed by subsequent tap water and deionized water rinses <br /> ' Onsite soils generated during the excavation activities were collected in 55-gallon <br /> drums stored onsite pending proper disposal <br /> - 6 - <br /> 1 <br />
