Project No 58080-06-01C
August 31, 1994
' Company's Environmental Services Division in Sacramento, California, three 10,000-gallon
underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site in 1979 It was reported that
' consistent with the standard practice at the time, no soil or groundwater samples were
collected during the UST removal The excavated soil was reported to have been aerated for
several months The USTs were reportedly located on the western side of the site and
contained only gasoline according to Mr John Cox of Mel Bokides Petroleum Incorporated,
the former fuel supplier The ESA report further indicated that a review of available San
' Joaquin County files was unable to document any records concerning the regulatory status of
' the USTs
The ESA included the reported advancement of three soil borings (SB-1, SB-2 and SB-3) to
depths between 20 and 30 feet bgs with limited soil sampling and analytical testing Total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) concentrations of 1,400 and 1,200 milligrams per
kilogram (mg/Kg) were reported for soil samples obtained from boring SB-3 located near the
central western portion of the site at depths of 15 and 20 feet bgs, respectively In addition,
'
total petro y petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) concentrations of 75 and 54 mg/Kg were
' reported at depths of 15 and 20 feet bgs, respectively, in boring SB-3 TPHg, TPHd and
BTEX concentrations were not reported above the laboratory equipment detection limits for
' soil samples collected at depths of 15 and 20 feet bgs in borings SB-1 and SB-2, located within
the entrance drive along the western site bolzndary
- 16 -
