K L E I N F E E D E R
7 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
7.1 SENSITIVE RECEPTOR SURVEY
Six wells were potentially located within a 2,000 foot search distance of the site See Table 4 for a
' summary of well data and Plate 6 for approximate well locations One domestic well (well No 6)
had an address which appears no longer exists (within the 2000 foot search distance) based on a
"dnve-by" confirmation of addresses of concern The location depicted on Plate 6 is an estimate
' only, of a possible location of this well The potential location of well number 6 is approximately
1,200 feet northwest of the site The closest well (well number 4) is approximately 1,000 feet west-
southwest and upgradient of the former site UST Well number 5 is approximately 1,200 feet to the
' northwest and cross gradient to the site Well numbers 1 and 2 are located about 1,700 to 1,800 feet
east of the site Based upon the location and distance of these wells from the site and the estimated
extent of the contaminant plume at the subject site, it does not appear that these six sensitive
' receptors (wells)are affected by the plume
The 500-foot physical sensitive receptor search identified an unlined canal approximately 220 feet
north of the former underground storage tank locations No other sensitive receptors or wells (other
than the site monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3) were observed during this 500-foot radius
survey Based upon the distance to this receptor and groundwater sampling results (see following
' discussion in Section 7 2) it does not appear this canal would be impacted by the subject site
contaminant plume Groundwater sampling results show that the edge of the plume is near the
' northern site boundary that is located approximately 140 feet south of the canal
The sensitive receptor survey also included review of permit files at PHS/EHD and a well search
' from local water purveyors No significant additional information was found from these sources
For a detailed discussion of these events see Section 4
' 7.2 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
7.2.1 Groundwater Sampline Results
Groundwater flow direction at the site is estimated towards the northeast at a gradient of
' approximately 0 005 ft/ft based upon soundings on July 7, 2000 Past groundwater surveys have
shown that groundwater flow direction has been consistently northeast Groundwater gradient
has ranged from 0 004 to 0 010 ft/ft For a summary of past groundwater elevations and
associated data please see Table 3
20-4439-01 E01/2000R726 Page 11 of 17
Copynght 2000 Kleinfelder, Inc October 16,2000
