KLEINFELDER
6) Based on review of soil logs from the push probe assessment (6/2000), former borings and
' monitoring well logs, it appears that the soils beneath the site in the vicinity of the former
UST and within the water bearing zones (depths near 28 feet bgs and deeper) are
predominantly clay with discontinuous layers of silts and sands Comparison of recent
' analytical results (June and July 2000) and lithology in the vicinity of the former UST does
not appear to indicate preferential contaminant pathways and uneven distribution patterns to
the north and northwest of the former UST Preferential contaminant pathways seem probable
(via coarser materials) south and southeast of the former UST, which is generally up-gradient
to cross gradient of the former UST (vicinity of MW-2) These trends however in
Kleinfelder's experience are not unusual as subsurface geology can be highly variable and
' cause expected contaminant distribution patterns to vary
Based on the data obtained during this assessment, Kleinfelder recommends
1 Continued semi-annual monitoring of the three existing monitoring wells (MW-1, N11W-2 and
' MW-3)
2 Kleinfelder recommends that a copy of this report be submitted to the RWQCB and
' PHS/EHD for their review and comment
3 Kleinfelder recommends a meeting/correspondence with PHS/EHD to discuss the findings
within this report and possible Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) closure
4 The equipment decontamination rinseate, purge water and push probe returns (soil) should be
' properly disposed of by the Client Kleinfelder can assist the Client in that disposal at an
additional charge if requested by the client
This report, and the conclusions and recommendations presented in this Executive Summary, are
subject to the "Limitations" presented in Chapter 9 of this report Any other party (other than the
Wilbur-Ellis Company or regulatory agencies having enforcement jurisdiction for this site) who
would like to use this report shall notify Kleinfelder, Inc of such intended use by executing the
"Application for Authorization to Use"contained in Appendix F
20-4439-01 E01/2000R726 Page 15 of 17
Copyright 2000 Kleinfelder,Inc October 16,2000
