' Project No 034-97252 <br /> Page No 2 <br /> Based on the due diligence requirements presented by Union Bank of California in an Interoffice <br /> Correspondence dated December 23, 1997, H&H Engineering Construction retained Krazan to conduct <br />' a Limited Subsurface Investigation on the subject site The results of the subsurface investigation are <br /> summarized in flus report <br />' 3.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF ASSESSMENT <br />' The purpose of the Lirruted Subsurface Investigation was to assess whether subsurface soils in the <br /> area of the former UST have been impacted from any releases from the former UST The scope of the <br />' investigation originally included the advancement of a drilled boring and the collection of soil samples for <br /> analysis However, following initial drilling, soil sampling and laboratory testing, the scope of work was <br />' revised to include additional borings for further site characterization <br /> 4 <br /> .0 SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION <br /> The subject site is located immediately south of Industrial Drive and approximately 250 feet west <br />' of McKinley Avenue in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California (see Vicinity Map, Figure 1) According <br /> to the U S Geological Survey, 7 5 minute Stockton West, California topographic quadrangle map, the <br /> Iarea of the subject site is relatively flat with an approximate elevation of 15 feet above mean sea level <br /> The subject site is currently occupied by a railroad construction contractor, H&H Engineering <br /> Construction Two office/shop buildings and associated asphaltic-concrete pavements are located on the <br /> site (see Site Map, Figure 2) <br /> 5.0 GEOLOGY/HYDROLOGY <br /> I The subject site is located within the northern San Joaquin Valley portion of the Great Valley <br /> Geomorphic Province The Great Valley is bordered to the north by the Cascade and Klamath Ranges, <br /> the west by the Coast Ranges, the east by the Sierra Nevada, and the south by the Transverse Ranges <br /> Formation of the valley occurred by tectonic shifting of the Sierra Block, the western side dropping to form <br /> the valley and the eastern side being uplifted to form the Sierra Nevada The valley is characterized by <br /> KRAZAN&ASSOCIA'T'ES,INC <br /> Offices Serving the Western United States <br /> 3497252 REP <br />
