k" KLEINFFLDFR <br /> ' File No 2l'i0-4439-01 E03 HEMMED <br /> January 23, 2002 <br /> SAN 2 5 2002 <br /> ' ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> Ms Jan Thompson PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Wilbur-Ellis Company <br /> ' P O Box 1286 <br /> Agricultural Services Corporate Office <br /> Fresno, CA 93715 <br /> SUBJECT 2001 Annual Report <br /> Semi-Annual Groundwater Sampling <br /> Former Underground Storage Tank Site <br /> H&H Engineering and Construction, Inc. <br /> 212 Industrial Drive <br /> Stockton, CA 95206 <br />' Dear Ms Thompson <br /> In accordance with your request and authorization, Kleinfelder has performed two semi-annual <br /> 2001 groundwater monitoring events at the above-referenced project site The semi-annual <br /> groundwater monttoring was required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br />' Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) <br /> 10 BACKGROUND <br /> The following information was obtained from excerpts of previous soil and groundwater <br /> assessment reports prepared by Krazan & Associates, Inc , a summary chronology of the site <br />' events, and correspondence from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) provided to Kleinfelder by Wilbur-Ellis <br />' In 1965, Wilbur-Ellis Company installed a 1,000-gallon underground gasoline storage tank <br /> (UST) at the site In 1987, the UST and associated piping were removed Low levels of total <br />' petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) were detected in soil samples collected at the time <br /> of removal Affected soil was excavated and aerated The former UST location was backfilled <br /> In 1903, Wilbur-Ellis sold the pioperty to H & H Engineering and Construction, Inc In 1997, H <br /> & H applied for refinancing of a loan Since no closure letter for the former UST was on file at <br /> the San Joaquin County PHS/EHD, the bank required a subsurface assessment be conducted H <br /> & H retained Krazan & Associates A soil assessment conducted in February 1998 found low <br /> levels of TPH-G and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) compounds in the soil <br /> Petroleum hydrocarbons were found in subsequent groundwater sampling conducted in March <br /> 20 4 439 01 E03/2002ROI0 Page I of 7 <br /> Copyright 2002, Kleinfelder Inc January 23 2002 <br />
