Mr. Kenneth Earnest
Ultramar Inc.
August 17, 1993
Page 2
The monitoring wells will be constructed of 4-inch diameter, flush-threaded, Schedule 40 PVC, with
a screened interval extending from approximately 5 feet above the ground water table to 10 feet
below the ground water table. Proposed construction details for the monitoring wells are illustrated
in Enclosure B.
Soil samples will be collected from each soil boring at 5-foot vertical intervals and will be
field-analyzed for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon vapors with a photoionization device(PID).
At least four soil samples from each boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis of benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes, and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline, using methods
approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Department of Health
Services. Selection of soil samples for laboratory analysis will be based on PID readings and the
depth to ground water.
Enclosed are well permit applications and a check in the amount of$89 which should be submitted
to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. We anticipate that the field work will
commence within two weeks of approval of this work plan.
We recommend that copies of this work plan be forwarded to:
Mr. Harlon Knoll Mr. Gordon L.
