ARCO will continue
quarterly sampling of the ten groundwater monitoring wells located on and off the site.
Well W-2B has been sampled monthly since May 1989, at the request of the California Regional
Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region to monitor the deeper groundwater at the
site. The results from monitoring well W-2B show that since October 1988, benzene and toluene
concentrations have been below the State Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs). Concentra-
tions of ethylbenzene and xylene have been below state MCLs since sampling began in June
1988. Table 1 presents the analytical results from W-2B from June 1988 to October 1989.
We believe that the monthly monitoring of W-213 has shown that hydrocarbon constituents do
not fluctuate significantly over time and are preseni t in concentrations which do not warrant
continued monthly sampling.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please call me at (916) 444-0123 .. a
Very truly yours,
BROWN AND CALDWELL
Jay Lucas
Project Manager
JL:LAM:mkw
cc: Mr. Kyle Christie, ARCO Products Company
Mr. Tom Peltier, California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
Mr. Chris Winsor, ARCO Products Company
