Mr Chuck Carmel <br /> August 15, 1994 <br /> Page 4 <br /> i <br /> Recommendations <br /> Based on the operation of the SVETS. during the first quarter of 1994, the SVETS will <br /> continue to operate However, Brown and Caldwell proposes that due to the decline in soil <br /> vapor influent concentrations to the catalytic oxidizer and the lack of groundwater <br /> contamination at the site, the biofilter system be permuted to remediate the remaining low soil <br /> vapor concentrations at the site As an interim measure, Brown and Caldwell will continue <br /> to optimize the operation of the current SVETS to maximize removal rates and decrease the <br /> concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil vapor beneath the site <br /> Brown and Caldwell further proposes the drilling of soil borings to confirm that soil and <br /> groundwater contamination beneath the site has been addressed and the site is ready for <br /> closure A work plan describing the details of this dnlling and sampling was submitted to the <br /> County on March 23, 1994 <br /> The well cap on well W-5 does not fit properly Brown and Caldwell suggests cutting the <br /> well head to ensure proper tit and resurveying the well Proper well cap fit will prevent <br /> contaminants from entering the well from an outside source <br /> SUMMARY OF WORK <br /> Work Completed First Quarter 1994 <br /> • Continued monitoring SVETS and optimized system performance <br /> • Prepared and submitted fourth quarter 1993 groundwater monitoring and remediation <br /> system evaluation report <br /> • Sampled site groundwater monitoring wells for first quarter 1994 Sampling <br /> performed by GTI <br /> Prepared San Joaquin Au Pollution Control District reports detailing operation and <br /> destruction removal efficiency of the SVETS <br /> • Requested and received approval to discontinue Wastewater Discharge Permit No <br /> 151 Effluent piping from the GWETS was disconnected from the industrial sewer <br /> on March 28, 1994 <br /> .
