Mr Chuck Carmel
• March 22, 1994
Page 3
were installed in November 1987 Results of the November 1987 work were presented in
BC's February 8, 1988, Second Addendum to the Problem Assessment Report Wells W-2A
and W-2B were installed in June 1988 Results of the June 1988 work were presented in the
November 8, 1988, Progress Report Wells WAA, W-9 through W-12, groundwater
extraction well E-1, and soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells V-1 through V-8 were installed in
April/May 1990 The results of this work are presented in BC's August 28, 1990, Addendum
#3 to the May 21, 1987, Problem Assessment Report
Soil samples collected from the boreholes drilled for the installation of groundwater
monitoring wells W-1 and W-3 through W-12 did not contain detectible concentrations of
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) or total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) Soil
samples collected from monitoring well W-2 contained minor BTEX concentrations
Groundwater monitoring wells W-1 through W-3 and W-9 are located on site All other
groundwater monitoring wells are oft site
Soil samples collected from boreholes B-1, near the pump island, contained signiricant BTEX
and TPH concentrations The soil samples collected from borehole B-2 contained signihcam
BTEX and TPH concentrations in the sample collected from the saturated zone and minor
. BTEX and TPH concentrations above the saturated zone Analytical results of soil samples
collected during the installation of the SVE wells indicate that elevated concentrations of
hydrocarbon constituents only occur at 50 to 55 5 feet bgs in boreholes V-6, -7, and -8, and
from 25 to 55 feet bgs in borehole V-4 The C4-C 12 hydrocarbons ranged from 6 to 17,000
parts per million in samples collected from these boreholes The highest BTEX and TPH
1'
concentrations were found in bonng V-4
Groundwater samples are collected on a quarterly basis from each of the groundwater
monitoring wells at the site (with the exception of well W-2 which will be replaced)
Analytical data from at least the last four quarters indicate that hydrocarbons are not present
in the groundwater above laboratory detection limits Historical groundwater analytical data
indicated that hydrocarbons were present in the groundwater in all monitoring wells except
well W-8 The hydrocarbon concentrations in monitoring wells WAA, W-213, W-4, W-5,
W-6, W-7, W-8, W-11, and W-12 have been minor
Use or disclosure of data contacted on this sheet is subject to the resiricuon speujled at rite beginning of this
docitnt ent 12 JSIR ITORTSWO R KPLA N
